Lydia's name was shown as "Liddie Blanton" on her daughter, Fannie McFerrin's, death certificate. Her first marriage was to whom some descendants refer to as Jake W. Skaggs. However, his name was shown as Benjamin, age 33, when he & Lydia, age, 22, lived in Neosho, Newton Co, MO, in 1850. Their son, William, was 1 year old. Their children were: William T. (1849) Francis Marion (1850) Jake Wesley (1852) Frances "Fannie" Lucretia (March 16, 1858) Eliza Caroline (1859) In 1860 she was living in Bosque Co, TX, with their five children. Jake wasn't shown in the census, so was probably dead. Lydia's second marriage was to James Washington Stroud about 1863. Their children were: James "Jim" Martin (March 15, 1864) Robert Samuel (January 04, 1866) Family history indicates that James left Lydia when Robert was one year old. In 1880 Lydia was living in Collin Co, TX, with four of her children. Her youngest child, Caroline, age 17, was listed as Caroline Rines. In 1900 Lydia, age 80, a widow, was living with her son, James Stroud, & his family in Collin Co, TX. ***** The dates of Lydia's birth & death are from the files of her gg-granddaughter, Dora May (Wise) Miller. Lydia's daughter, Frances "Fannie" Lucretia (Skaggs) who married James "John" Calvin McFerrin, was Dora May's g-grandmother. Many years ago Dora May's mother, Mittie (McFerrin) Wise, drew a diagram of the graves of relatives buried here. Several were only marked with a post at that time, which have now most likely succumbed to the elements of time. One was the grave of Lydia who was buried beside her son, James Stroud.
