Bio

Funeral services for Barbara West, 65 of Lubbock, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Highland Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Stan Blevins. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. She passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003. She was born on August 26, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955. She then married John Petty,who preceded her in death in 1968.After his death,she completed Meth- odist School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She later completed a BSN degree at Texas Women's University in Denton.She then married Herbert Duane West on May 1,1982. She was a nurse for many years at St. Mary's Hospital and several area nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Alan Petty II; and her oldest daughter, Rebecca Petty Chapman. Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Lubbock;a daughter,Melissa Petty Harmon of Mansfield, Texas;four grandchildren; her first cousins,Janell Giles Alexander,Glenda Thompson,Anna Jo Dominey, and Janita Rae Young.
