Mary Ann Larsen, of Republican City, Nebraska, formerly of Ord, Nebraska departed this life on December 9, 2009, at her home in Republican City, Nebraska. Mary Ann was 85 years of age having been born on November 5, 1924, in rural Ord, Nebraska to Stanley and Mary (Adamek) Petska. Mary Ann graduated from Burwell (Nebraska) High School in 1942. She then taught in rural schools for two years. On March 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Henry (Hank) C. Larsen in Ord, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Dale Henry, Dianne Marie and Patricia Catherine. Hank and Mary Ann lived and worked in various jobs and towns. Eventually settling in Lexington, Nebraska where Hank worked at the NAPA store. After Hank passed away in 1979, Mary Ann worked at the NAPA store. In 1987, she transferred to the store in Alma, Nebraska where she worked until her retirement. She then cooked at the Senior Center in Alma, Nebraska until moving to Republican City, Nebraska where she lived with her daughter, Pat and grandson, Brett. Mary Ann enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making quilts, gardening and cleaning her house. Most of all she loved to cook for her family. She made her famous homemade noodles, kolaches and dumplings and sauerkraut. Mary Ann is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Linda Larsen of North Platte, Nebraska; daughters and a son-in-law, Dianne and Dennis Knutson of Franklin, Nebraska and Patricia Mattison of Republican City, Nebraska; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Floyd Kusek of Boring, Oregon and Lorene Meese of Ord, Nebraska; and sisters-in-law, Lois Petska of Hershey, Nebraska; Mary Petska of Portland, Oregon and Geneva Petska of Hastings, Nebraska. Mary Ann was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by; her parents Stanley and Mary Petska; husband, Harry "Hank" Larsen; brothers, Lavern, Richard, Stanley and Paul Petska; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Petska; brother-in-law, Ray Meese and a son-in-law, Larry Mattison.
