Funeral services for Rosie Balcar, 82, of Schulenburg, formerly of La Grange, were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Rev. Royce Hughes and the Rev. Msgr. John Hanacek officiating. Burial was at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Hostyn with the Rev. William Halata officiating. Mrs. Balcar passed away Sunday June 17 in Colorado-Fayette Medical Center. Born in La Grange March 21, 1908, Mrs. Balcar was the daughter of the late Anton and Rosalie (Hrncir) Vasek. On June 26, 1928 she was united in marriage with Joe F. Balcar of Plum. They moved to Schulenburg in 1949. Mr. Balcar preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1986. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Plum KJZT. Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Sylvia and her husband John Hudson of Linchicum, Maryland, Helen Balcar of Schulenburg and Joan Balcar of Austin; three grandchildren, Jean Oillies of Redlands, California, John Hudson, of Eldersburg, Maryland and Linda Hudson of Catonsville, Maryland, and three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Janessa Oillies of Redlands and Christopher Hudson of Eldersburg. Mrs. Balcar was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
