Bio
Gordon W. Voelkel, 62, of Victoria, went to be with his Saviour Wednesday, August 8, 2007. He was born October 29, 1944, in Nordheim to the late Whitmore and Agnes Rohan Voelkel. He was the proud owner of Handy Man Services for sixteen years. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council. Gordon will be remembered for his generosity and loving nature which was displayed toward all he met, but particularly in his willingness to donate one of his kidneys to his sister in August 1998. Survivors include his wife, Allena Jean Voelkel of Victoria; daughters, Judith Covington of Smithville, Oklahoma, and Melody Hensley of Boerne, Melisa Wilson of Springdale, Arkansas; sons, Jonathan Voelkel of Vernon, Jason Voelkel of Tomball and Chad Voelkel of Mena, Arkansas; sister, Shirley Audlit of Nordheim; brothers, Forrest Voelkel and Franklin Voelkel, both of Corpus Christi and Jimmy Voelkel of Nordheim; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm Sunday, August 12, 2007, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 13, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Forrest Voelkel, Jimmy Voelkel, Franklin Voelkel, Zach Voelkel, Adam Voelkel, Brett Hensley, Jack Wilson, Clint Covington and Roy Caruthers.
