Bio
R. F. Foster is my 2nd great-grandfather. His full name is Richmon Frank Foster. He was b. 15 Dec., 1853 (TS says 1852, but he had a twin sister, and family info seems to indicate 1853 is right), in Coffee Co., TN, and d. 30 Jun, 1907 in Giles Co., TN. His parents were Hugh Andrew and Matilda (Lusk) Foster of Coffee Co., TN. He was married twice, 1st to Mary Jane McGuire, 2nd to Mary Alice Duke. Shortly before his death, he moved from Coffee Co., TN to Giles Co., TN; some of his children moved there and to Rogersville, Lauderdale Co., AL from Coffee Co., and he apparently moved to be near them. Children who moved to Giles/Lauderdale are Hugh Andrew Jackson Foster, James David Foster, and Isaac F. Foster. Children who remained in Coffee Co., TN are John Thomas Foster (my great-grandfather), Mary A. (Foster) Vaughn, and Edd Lee Foster. This Foster family maintained contact until at least the 1950s with annual August reunions at the state park in Giles Co. Thanks to descendant Thomas White, a more recent reunion was held at the city park in Manchester, Coffee Co., TN in 1992. I visited the Giles/Lauderdale Co. area a few years ago and visited the family cemeteries, but was not able to make contact with any of my Foster family known to still reside in the area.
