The following obituary was published in the Rosenberg, Texas Herald Coaster on Friday, April 19, 1996: "Hubert S. Cooper" Funeral services for Hubert S. Cooper, 85, of Rosenberg, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at Santa Anna Funeral Home in Santa Anna, Texas. Burial will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery. On behalf of the family, Mr. Cooper's son, David M. Cooper, will conduct the service. Mr. Cooper ("Coop") passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 1996 at Polly Ryon Skilled Nursing Center. He was born on June 24, 1910 in Santa Anna. He married Anna Belle Moers in December 1934 in Wharton. They resided in Wharton and Richmond for many years. Mr. Cooper was a 50-year member of the Arabian Shrine Temple and past President of the Fort Bend, Wharton and Colorado Valley Shrine Clubs and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge of Wharton. In addition to Anna Belle, his wife of 61 years, he is survived by four sons, Hubert Sealy Cooper II of Southlake; David Moers Cooper and is wife, Marjorie Ann, of San Jose, California; James Bolton ("Bo") Cooper and his wife, Eileen of East Bernard; Jerry Lynn Cooper and his wife , Sharon Kay, of Batesville, Arkansas; one daughter, Karol Ann Cooper of Knoxville, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one brother Willie Mason Cooper of Highlands. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
