Dr. Ben Gibson Yeager was superintendent of the Wichita Falls State Hospital. A psychiatrist, his field was mental hospital administration. He had been superintendent of Wichita Falls State Hospital since 1951 coming to Wichita Falls from the Los Angeles, California Veterans Administration Center where he was Chief of professional services and hospital administrator. A graduate of Baylor University College of Medicine in Dallas in 1934, Dr. Yeager entered the field of psychiatry in 1939 when he joined the U.S. Veterans Administration and served as chief of the acute and continued treatment services for psychiatric patients. Dr. Yeager served at two different times in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Major. He served from 1935 to 1939 and again during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He attended public school in Mineral Wells, Austin College in Sherman and the University of Texas in Austin. Following his graduation from medical school, he interned at St. Vincent's Hospital in Los Angeles. On 18 October 1935 at Lone Pine, California, he married Miss Beth Pierson. He was a member of Fain Memorial Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls and the Southwest Lions Club. Surviving are his wife; one son - William R. Yeager; three brothers - R.L. Yeager, W.C. Yeager, H.K. Yeager; one sister - Mrs. J.C. Shockey; his mother - Mrs. Ben A. Yeager. Mineral Wells Index January 12, 1962
