Services for Lucie Evelyn Busch Casey, 90, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Mont Belvieu's First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C. V. Pruitt officiating. Mrs. Casey, who would have been 91 on Jan. 3, died on Saturday. She was a member of a prominent Cedar Bayou family and the widow of a Mont Belvieu grocer, James B. Casey. She was the daughter of Austin William Busch, who was born near Goose Creek in 1854. He developed a trading business on Cedar Bayou and made his home there. Her mother, Anne Morgan Busch, was the daughter of Dr. Asa Morgan, for whom the Cedar Bayou Morgan Settlement and Morgan School were named. In 1922 she married James B. Casey. They made Mont Belvieu their home, where they were in the grocery business until retirement in 1960. Throughout her life, Lucie Casey was devoted to her family, church and community. A patron of the Barbers Hill School District, she was active in the Parent-Teacher Association. As a continuing member since 1922 of the First United Methodist Church of Mont Belvieu, she taught Sunday school, played the piano for church services and also was active in the United Methodist Women's Missionary Society. Since 1922 she has been a member of the Cedar Bayou Eastern Star, Chapter 11, and served as worthy matron. She also was an active member of the Goose Creek Rebekuh Lodge No. 453, having served a term as noble grand officer. She was the musician for many terms in the lodge and was a member of the Past Noble Grands Club. Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-laws, Floreine and Millard Spain of Baytown and Jamie Fay and Murvil Lipsey Jr. of Broaddus; a sister, Annie Arrington of Anderson; grandsons, Rusty and Doug Lipsey; granddaughters, Margaret Spain, Cynthia Jones and Bette Walker; and four great grandsons.
