Printed in Daily Herald, Biloxi, MS on 3/20/1953: "BALIUS FUNERAL" "The funeral of Albert George Balius, Sr., chief carpenter at VA Center, who died Thursday, will be held from Bradford Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Saturday. Services will be at Epworth Methodist Church by Rev. Roy Givens. Burial will be in Biloxi Cemetery." Printed in Daily Herald, Biloxi, MS on 3/19/1953: "Albert G. Balius Sr. Dies At Biloxi Today" "Albert G. Balius Sr., 54, lifelong Biloxian, chief carpenter at the Veterans Administration Center, where he had been employed since its establishment, was found dead in bed at his home, 923 Couevas Street at 7:40 a.m. today(sic) by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wm. Balius. His wife, Mrs. Louella Hastings Balius, was visiting relatives in Robertsdale, Ala., at the time. Besides Mrs. Balius, he leaves three sons, Albert G. Jr., Wm. E. and Elton, Biloxi; seven brothers, Ernest, Floyd, Henry and Paul, Biloxi; Eddie and Louis, Flint, Mich., and Fred, Gautier; and three sisters, Mrs. Elliot Bellande, Biloxi; Mrs. Sam Broughton, Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Floyd Nobles, Biloxi. A coroners jury empanelled at Bradford's Funeral Parlors this morning determined that Balius had come to his death from natural causes. County Coroner Frank Hightower presided at the inquest and Constable Albert Demoran served as baliff(sic). Members of the jury were Edward Ryan, J. J. Coffey, Clarence Pitfield, J. C. Kelley, Henry Lechner and Alfred Richter." Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Records, Book 35, pg 452: Albert died at his residence at 921 Couevas St. from natural causes. His wife was Louella Hastings. He was a WWI veteran.
