Mrs. Ben (Emilie) Vanzura, 83, of West died Sunday in the West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Kotch Funeral Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Mrs. Vanzura was born in Portland, Ore., and had lived in West for the last 70 years. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829, KJZT Society No. 11, and SPJST Lodge No. 54. Mrs. Vanzura's husband died April 1, 1970. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Elenora) Vrba of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Otto Matus, John Horton, Richard Vrba, Gary Vrba, Bill Vanzura and Larry Vanzura. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 86, No. 52, Edition 1, Thursday, December 30, 1976, page 8.
