Leonard W. Sykora, age 64 of Mabank, passed away August 29, 2000 in Lampasas. Rosary was held 10:30 a.m. September 1 in the St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Father Andrew Melel and Deacon Howard Palms officiating. Interment followed at 3 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Sykora was born January 17, 1936 in West, to Henry J. and Mary Albina (Adamcik) Sykora. Previously of Dallas, he lived in Mabank since 1984. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree; Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club and Finance Committee at St. Jude Catholic Church of Gun Barrel City. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Sykora of Mabank; one daughter, Faye McBride and her husband Ross of Edgewood; three granddaughters, Regina Vaughan of Edgewood, Lindsay Vaughan of Richardson and Audrey McBride of Edgewood; one grandson, Wyatt McBride of Edgewood; his mother, Mary Sykora of West and other family members and a host of friends. Family received friends August 31 from 6-8 p.m. at Eubank Funeral Home in Mabank. Eubank Funeral Home in Mabank was in charge of arrangements.
