Mrs. August (Irene) Sulak, age 78 of Lake Whitney, died Tuesday morning in a Whitney hospital. Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West; followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m., with Rev. Al LaFleur, O.S.A., as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Sulak was born November 28, 1920 in West, was raised in West and graduated from West High School. She had lived at Lake Whitney for the past 26 years. Mrs. Sulak, the former Irene Peter, married August Sulak April 23, 1941 in San Antonio. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Survivors include her husband, August of Lake Whitney, one son, Malcolm Sulak and wife Brenda of Joshua, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Adams and husband Joe of Hewitt; four grandchildren, Phillip, Darrell, David and Shawn Sulak; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ian, Marky, Crystal, Coleman, Madison and Michael Sulak; two nieces, June Goodnight and husband James and Katlyn Goodnight; and one nephew, James Tristan Goodnight. Active Pallbearers were Johnny Popp, Wayne Kennedy, Jr., David Kolar, James Goodnight, David Sulak and Charles Sulak. The family received visitors from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 109.
