Bio

Jolene Snokhous, age 69, passed away Friday morning April 11, 1997 in Houston after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston. Services were at 11 a.m. April 15 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Melvin Dornak officiating. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery near West. Mrs. Snokhous was born March 30, 1928 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of William and Ella Grant. She graduated from Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and also attended the University of Houston where she met her husband in 1951 and they were married on September 5, 1952. Her family was her life, where she was affectionately referred to as MaMa Jo by her grandchildren. Through her devoted faith in our Lord, she endured the years of pain and suffering without complaint and with dignity. The memory of her legacy will always be cherished. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Snokhous of Houston; one son Mark Snokhous and his wife, Nanette; one daughter, Karen Nunneley and her husband, Dean; five grandchildren, Jason and Kayla Snokhous and Kelsey, Kyle and Kody Nunneley; one sister, Billie Ann Schreiber and her husband, Bert, uncle Bruce Grant; aunts, Eleanor Burkhalter, Elizabeth Massey, Janie Meek, Ruth Ruark and Margie Womack; nieces, Janie Mitcham and her husband Stewart and their children Sara and Abbey; Joe Ellen Schreiber and her daughter Taylor; one nephew, Paul Schreiber and his wife, Tammy and their children Carly and Scott; and her special friends Katie and Leonard Sneed. Pallbearers were Dave Burton, Tom Burton, Russel Devorsky, Paul Schreiber, Stewart Mitcham and Ricky Weeds. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
