Henry R. Skerik, 59, of Bellmead, a carpenter, died Tuesday morning in a Waco hospital from injuries suffered in a Friday afternoon automobile accident. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead, the Rev. George Tzanakas as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in Bellmead. Mr. Skerik was born in Otto and attended school in Ross. He lived in Penelope for four years and had lived in Bellmead for 28 years. He married Helen Chudej in 1947. Mr. Skerik was a veteran of World War II and a member of SPJST Lodge No. 54. He was employed as a carpenter by builder Joe Matustik. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Jimmy (Terry) Pelham of Beaumont and Mrs. Barry (Patricia) Brott of Waco; two brothers, Frank Skerik of Abbott and Bill Skerik of West; a sister, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Hynek of Abbott; and four grandchildren. Active pallbearers Anthony Chudej, Thomas Chudej, Richard Skerik, Ronnie Skerik, Ray Lenart, Billy Ray Dvoracek, Larry Vahue and Jerry Brezina.
