Two Car Accident Kills Waco Girl A 9 year-old girl was killed and three others injured in a two-car accident on Interstate 35 near Northcrest about 6 p.m. Sunday. Melinda Louise Petter of Waco was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m. at Providence Hospital. She was a passenger in a car occupied by Albin E. Petter, 69, and Louise Gerich Petter, 65, both of West. They were treated and released from Providence. Constance Jean Nors, 22, of Waco was in satisfactory condition Monday night at the hospital. Highway troopers said the Petter vehicle was northbound on I-35 and a car driven by the Nors woman was southbound. The Nors vehicle struck a bridge railing about .7 of a mile north of Northcrest, slid across a grass median and struck the front of the Petter car in the northbound lane. Troopers said the Petter car spun and overturned after the collision. The girl's death was the 27th traffic fatality in McLennan County this year. Rosary for the girl was recited Monday at Connally-Compton West Chapel. Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Rev. Henry Petter officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albin A. Petter of Waco, a sister, Carol Petter; two brothers, David {Petter and Andy Petter; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Petter of Route 2, West and Mrs. Annie Karlik of 808 Marable in West.
