Henry J. Ondrej, Native Farmer, Succumbs Saturday Henry James Ondrej, the 60-year-old native farmer of the West community, passed away in a Waco hospital last Saturday suffering from a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev. E.J. Polcak at the Church of the Assumption. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary had been recited at Aderhold Chapel Sunday evening. Mr. Ondrej had been ill for the past two years, but two heart attacks that struck Tuesday, June 28, led to his death Saturday. He was born the son of Ludvig and Barbara Houdek Ondrej near Tours on July 5, 1894. He married Cecilie Cepak in November 1915 and they lived 12 miles west of town near Aquilla before moving near West 10 years ago. Mr. Ondrej was a one-time officer and 45-year member of the local KJT Catholic Men's Society and a 32-year member of the Knights of Columbus. The KC Choir sang at funeral services. Mr. Ondrej was a devotee of fishing as a hobby and made numerous fishing trips to all points in the state with local sportsmen. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Henry J. Ondrej of West; two daughters, Mrs. Clement Bruegging and Mrs. Louis Snapka both of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mrs. Vinc Hutyra of West and Mrs. Janie Kaska of Dallas, and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Walter Vanzura, Rud. Vanzura, Vaclav Bezdek, August Pustejovsky, Frank Marak and Joe Gaidusek. Honorary pallbearers were officers of KJT Society and Knights of Columbus.
