David S. Novak Dies; Rites Held Saturday in West M-Sgt. (Ret.) David S. Novak, 67. of West died Thursday morning in a West hospital. Requiem mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Rev. Earl Hedberg officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday in the Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mr. Novak was born in Foley, Minn. He had lived in the West area since 1948. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. Mr. Novak was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, VFW Post No. 4819, Knights of Columbus Council 2305, the SPJST Lodge No. 54 and KJT Society No. 31, all in West. He married Albina Barak on Oct. 18, 1933, in West. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Cashmer Novak of Arlington, S.D., a half-brother, Timothy Tadych of Gillman, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. John (Lillian) Roda of St. Cloud, Minn.; and Mrs. Byron (Nattie) Sweeley of Tracy, Minn.; three stepsisters, Mrs. Helen Deppa, Mrs. Clara Jurek and Mrs. Sallie Zlock, all of Gillman, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
