Bio

Robert V. Neckar, age 88 of Tours, passed away Sunday evening, January 27, 2002, at West Rest Haven in West. Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West. Mr. Neckar was born May 17, 1913, near West, Texas, and had lived in the West/Abbott area until moving to Elk with his parents at the age of nine. They then moved to Levy where he lived until 1936, at which time they moved to Tours until 1953, then moving to Abbott in 1953, and then back to Tours in 1965. Mr. Neckar was preceded in death by his first wife, Sophie, who died January 5, 1965. He then married Wilma Adamcik on May 13, 1967. Mr. Neckar was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church at Tours and had served as manager of Tours Hall for a number of years. He loved gardening and building Martin houses and was an excellent cook. He was also a member of Catholic Workman Branch 77 of West. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Neckar and stepdaughter, Dorothy Hykel. Mr. Neckar is survived by his wife, Wilma Neckar of West Rest Haven; four sons, Robert R. Neckar of Lacy Lakeview, Edward J. Neckar and wife Jeannie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, James R. Neckar and wife Mary Ann and David A. and wife Lorraine Neckar, both of Tours, three daughters, Marie and husband Robert Nors of Abbott, Frances and husband James Buchanan of Missouri City, Texas, Cathy and husband Dudley Allen of Robinson; five brothers, Steve and Ernest Neckar of Lorena, Johnnie Neckar of Waco, George Neckar of Perry, Albin Neckar of Robinson; two sisters, Lillian Chocek of New Port Beach, California and Dorothy Maggard of Waco; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. Active Pallbearers were Ryan Allen, James Nors, James R. Neckar, Jr., Chad Neckar, Steve Gustafson and Robert D. Neckar. Honorary Pallbearers were Carolyn Waters, Michael Nors, Richard Nors, David Nors, Matthew Nors, Kevin Nors, Jennifer Plsek, Julie Lech, Amy Gustafson, Ashley Neckar, Gina Neckar, Kim Stephens, Penny Cockaran, Lance Allen, Keith Allen, Ronald Barber, Alan Barber, Mark Hykel, David Hykel and Chris Hykel.
