Bio
Ruby Matula, age 90, of Penelope, passed away early Saturday morning, January 15, 2022, at her son's residence near West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Church of the Nativity, BVM in Penelope. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Ruby was born December 18, 1931, in Penelope, the daughter of the late August and Annie (Neckar) Pribyla. She attended school in Penelope and was a graduate of Penelope High School. On January 6, 1962, she was united in marriage to Rudolf Matula in Penelope. Rudolf preceded her in death on October 30, 2003. Ruby was a member of the Church of the Nativity, BVM. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 in West, the Altar Society in Penelope, and SPJST Lodge #66. Ruby farmed alongside her husband Rudolf taking care of the crops and gardening. She enjoyed dancing, listening to Polka music, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her son, Danny Matula, and wife Sarah of West; a cherished granddaughter, Danielle Matula and fiance Corbin Goates of West; a great-grandson Beckham; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
