John J. Macicek, age 90, of West passed away August 13, 1995, in West Rest Haven in West. Rosary was recited at 1 p.m. August 15 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West by the Reverend Melvin Dornak. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1:15 August 15, in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with the Reverend Melvin Dornak as Celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Macicek was born December 27, 1904, in West and had lived in West all of his life. He was the son of John and Johanna Macicek. He married Lillian Gerik on October 29, 1928. Mr. Macicek farmed and later operated a grocery store in West for many years. After retirement he worked for West Hardware. He was a member of K.J.T. Society #31 for over 72 years and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mr. Macicek is survived by his wife, Lillian Macicek of West, and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were David Zatopek, Randy Franek, Steven Gerik, Harry Matus, Jimmy Elles and Joe Mynarcik. The family requested memorials be of the donor's choice.
