Marie B. Horak, age 95, of West, passed away early Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2018 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Marie was born April 22, 1923 in West, the daughter of John and Barbara (Pribek) Mikulik. She attended schools in West and was a 1940 graduate of West High School. On August 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Eugene C. Horak in West. Eugene preceded her in death on February 23, 2018. Marie was a homemaker. They have lived in Ennis, Dennison, Groesbeck, La Marque and Bremond. Marie was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the VFW Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary, KJZT Society #11, SPJST Lodge #54, the 50/50 Club and the Czech Heritage Society. Marie is preceded in death by her parents and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Pribyla, Edith Jones and Evangela Horak. Survivors include Her sister-in-law, Ann Schneider and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are John Michael Altas, Brian Altas, Marvin Cepak and Martin Zapletal.
