John Helona Age 27, Dies John Daniel Helona, 27, of West died Friday morning in a Temple hospital after a short illness. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. William Benish as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Helona was born in Abbott and had lived there until 1973 when he moved to West. He was a graduate of Abbott High School. He married the former Mary Ann Polansky May 19, 1973 at West. He was a farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and KJY Society No. 31 of West. Survivors include his wife; son, Christopher John Helona of West; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Helona of Abbott; two brothers, Raymond Helona of China Springs and Joe Helona of Dallas; and sister, Mrs. Lillian Tufnell of Carrollton; and grandfather, Frank Helona of West. Pallbearers were Anton Polansky, James Parma, James Svacina, Gary Beseda, Harry Makovy, and Eugene Snapka. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Urbanovsky, Eddie Klish, Charlie Kolar, Michael Mach, Smokey Kubacak, Mike Parma, Edward Helona, Robert Kocurek, Freddie Brem, and Ray Parma.
