Daryl Frank Helona, 13, of Route 2, Abbott died Jan. 21 at West Community Hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Helona was born November 2, 1971, at Waco. He lived in the Abbott-West area all his life. He was a seventh grader at Ross Middle School. He was a member of the Junior High Band, SPJST Lodge No. 6 of Cottonwood and St. Mary's Catholic Church and CCD Class. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Helona of Route 2, Abbott; and a brother, Edward Helona of Route 2, West. Pallbearers were Michael Mach, Michael Reed, Raymond Kubacak, Jr., Raymond Helona, Davie Kofnovec and Heath Lee Mynar.
