Eugene Bajer, Sr., age 47, of 1505 North Davis in West, passed away late Friday night, February 8, 1991 at his residence. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Bajer was born October 21, 1943 near West, the son of Joseph and Julie Bajer. He attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1962. He made the Waco Tribune-Herald Super Centex Football team in 1960 and 1961. He married Carol Glew on August 24, 1963 in West. He was the Director of Public Works for the City of West and has worked for the city for 28 years. He was also owner of the West Pizza House and Glenn Water Supply. Mr. Bajer was a member of the West Volunteer Fire Department since January 1964, where he served as chief in 1973, as secretary-treasurer since 1975, and as fire captain since 1986. He was a member of the West Kiwanis Club, the K.J.T. Society No. 31, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305. He was also a member of the Central Texas Water and Waste Water Association. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Survivors include his wife, Carol Bajer of West; one son, Eugene J. (Chip) Bajer of West; one daughter, Christine Bajer of West; one brother, John A. Bajer of Richwood; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Georgie) Hutyra of West and Mrs. Tom (Lillian) Flood of DeSoto; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Marvin Gerik, John Miller, Albert Matus, George Nors, William (Boiley) Pareya, Don (Butch) Zatopek, Doug Vrana and Richard Hykel. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the West Volunteer Fire Department. Aderhold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
