Graveside services for Robert Timmons, 83, of Palestine, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at New Prospect Cemetery in Beckville, with Blackie Gibbs officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. Mr. Timmons passed away Friday, August 20, 2010, in Palestine. He was born January 29, 1927, in DeBerry, to C.D. Timmons and Lula Bele Hanson Timmons. He was a retired signal gang foreman for Union Pacific Railroad and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Timmons was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby May Timmons; sisters, Mary Ruth Johnson and Lorene Hill; brothers, E.B. Timmons and Will Henery Timmons; and a son, Robert Earl Timmons. He is survived by two daughters, Jan Carr and husband, Charles, of Palestine, and Ann Hardin and husband, Ben, of Corsicana; one son, James Timmons of Palestine; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ben Hardin, Jon Carr, Charles Carr, Stacey Shear, Robert Deel and Maurice LeMon. Condolence calls will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at Bailey & Foster Palestine.
