Bio
Leonard L. Gerik of Bridge City died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at his home. He was 51 years old. A mass was held Thursday, May 3 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City with burial that followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. A rosary was held Wednesday evening, also at St. Henry Catholic Church. Leonard was born Nov. 11, 1955 to Robert Francis and Margaret Frances (Steyaert) Gerik in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was retired from the US Air Force and was the former owner of S.E.T. t-shirt shop in Bridge City for many years. He loved fishing, his children and family and his four grandsons. He was a very spiritual man who made a wonderful Paw-Paw and a great friend. He was compassionate and very generous with encouragement, advice, lots of hugs and a good laugh. He will be missed by many. Mr. Gerik is survived by his parents Bob and Margaret Gerik of Bridge City;, daughter Rachelle Plessala and husband Nick of Bridge City; son William Gerik of Austin; daughter Marissa Gerik of Bridge City; long time sweetheart Mary Middlebrooks of Bridge City; former wife and mother of his children Reba Gerik of Bridge City; grandsons Erik Gore, Brendan Gore, Kayden Jones and Nicholas Plessala, Jr., all of Bridge City; sister Joanie Thibodeaux and husband Ray of Beaumont; sister Carolyn Kelly and husband Charles of Beaumont; brother Stephen Gerik and wife Linda of Phoenix, AZ; sisters Kathy Brown and Susan Stephenson of Bridge City and a host of other family members and friends.
