Bio

Gladys May Kolbo, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on November 12, 2009, in her home in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Gladys was 98 years of age having been born on July 2, 1911, at Rising City, Nebraska the daughter of George and Matilda (Raitt) Hewitt. Glady is survive by daughter and son in law, Elaine and John Richardson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a son, Gerald Kolbo of Houston, Texas; brothers, Paul Hewitt of Phillips , Nebraska and Harold Hewitt of Kansas City, Missouri, sisters, Lucille Lyons of Pine Bluffs, Wyoming and Mildred Bunnell of Worland, Wyoming and a host of friends and relatives. Gladys grew up in Carpenter, Wyoming, where she received her education, later moving to Grand Island, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Glenn Kolbo, May 20, 1933, at Kearney, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Grand Island, Nebraska where she was employed at Hellman, Kaufman and Wernert 5&10 Cent Store in downtown Grand Island, Nebraska. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles Auxiliary and various camping clubs all of Grand Island, Nebraska Gladys was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by her parents, George and Matilda Hewitt; and husband, Glenn Kolbo.
