Bio

John married Amanda M. Birdwell in Franklin, Tn on 26 Apr 1838. Family legend says that John killed a man in Tennessee and came to Texas, changing the name to Clepper. His brother Lemual Gilliam Clepper was already in Texas 1837 with the spelling of C. In the family Bible left in Tennessee in the home of Thomas Wesley Klepper preferred the spelling Clepper.He changed it on his own accord.
