Josef Slansky was a native of Europe and was born on June 24, 1881. He immigrated at the age of eight years with his parents who settled in Fayetteville. He married Miss Vera Havran at Fayetteville on March 4, 1905. He died in Houston on Wednesday, January 9, 1957. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Vera Slansky, four daughters Mrs. Lillie Kahanek of El Campo and Mrs. Tillie Chovanec, Mrs. Marie Snider and Mrs. Annie Drab of Houston, and one sone, Isador Slansky of El Campo. He was also survived by 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Information obtained from an article published in The La Grange Journal on January 17, 1957.
