Bio

Vada Brown Bate, 93, died October 30, 1998, at the Life Care Center of Bountiful in Bountiful, Utah. Born June 15, 1905, daughter of Samuel Richard Brown and Louise Thuesen Brown, Provo, Utah. Married Rulon Herbert Bate, June 11, 1930, Salt Lake LDS Temple. She has been active in her various L.D.S. ward callings. She has served in various music capacities and as a teacher in the Relief Society, Mutual, and Primary. She served as a stake chorister and organist. She had a great love for music. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She has served in several Civic organizations such as, Ladies Literary Club, Salt Lake Council of Women. She was interested all her life in preparing, arranging, and sponsoring varied musical programs for Church, Civic, and Social groups. Survivors: sister, Louise Brown Wrigley of Salt Lake City; Rosalee Hansen Billman and Wayne Hansen, whom she and her husband raised; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Carol Jean, who died in infancy, and her husband preceded her in death. Funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at the Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn, Wednesday, Nov. 4 between 6-8 p.m., and Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Published in the Deseret News on 11/2/1998
