REDDING ---- Graveside services for James Carter, 79, of Redding will be at -- p.m. Tuesday at Redding Memorial Park. The Rev. Dennis Benfield will officiate. Mr. Carter died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Born June 6, 1925, in Point, Texas, he moved to Shasta County in 1952 from Downey. He was -- World War II Army Air Corps veteran, owner and operator of Jim's Barber Shop in Redding for 30 years, involved with Shasta County Search and Rescue, volunteered at Mercy Medical Center as -- CPR instructor, and was -- member of Barber's Local Post -- in Redding, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Redding and Cub Master Pack Post 44. Survivors include wife Marilyn; son David of Eagle Point, Ore.; daughter Nancy of Tombstone, Ariz.; brother John of Oregon; sisters Addie Stokes of Kansas and Ruth Sherrill of Grand Junction, Colo.; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Haven Humane Society, P.O. Box 992202, Redding, CA 96099-2202. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald's Redding Chapel.
