Bio

Dessa Lenora Headley, 86, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, February 10, 2000, in Dallas, surrounded by her family, who loved her very much. Visitation and viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 14 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, also at Chaney-Reager. Rev. Orville Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Headley was born on Dec. 26, 1913 to One and Louise Mae (Gallup) McKeighan in Portsmouth, Iowa. As a young child, they moved to Peetz, where she attended school. As a young woman, she moved to Sterling, where she resided until 1990. She married Armon Milton, and a daughter, Monica, was born to this union. In 1944, she married F. Vernon Forell and a daughter, Karen, was born. He died May 27, 1953. On July 1. 1970, she married Leslie E. Headley in Snyder. He died Dec. 11, 1986. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sterling since 1936. Mrs. Headley is survived by one daughter, Karen vonForell of Garland; one sister, Verda Fitzpatrick of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren, Richard Hirschfeld of Moab, Utah, Sandra Morrow of Las Vegas, Nev., Patricia Bisio of Reno, Nev., Joyce Higdon of Rancho Condo va, Calif., Judy Key of Grand Junction, Vicki Hall of Garland, and Scott Schledwitz; 13 great- grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Monica Hirschfeld Kelly; and three sisters, Dorotha Harclerode, Ardythe Trowbridge and Verlie Sable. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church.
