Daughter of Meshack Hicks and Lucy P McConnell. Wife of William D. Bunch. Mother of William S , Cyrus J, Lula Elizabeth (William David Morrow, Evan D Williams, John C Hollingshead), Doria A , George W and Frances Ellen "Nellie" (William Braden Patton) Bunch. ____________________________________________________________ DIED: BUNCH - At Mountain Home, on the Overland road, in Alturas [now Elmore] county, I. T. [Idaho Territory], on the evening of December 24, 1879, of consumption, Mrs. Sarah E. Bunch, wife of W. D. Bunch; aged 32 years. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. C. C. Hayne [Nancy Hicks], recently of Iowa. She was a native of the state of Tennessee, but for many years resided at Earlham, Madison County, Iowa. About two months ago she was induced, in consequence of fast failing health, her recovery having been despaired of by her physicians in Iowa, to come to Idaho with the faint hope that the change of scene and climate might restore her health. Accordingly she came on a visit to her dear relatives here, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hayne [Charles C. Haynes], where everything that tender affection and care could suggest was done to relieve her sufferings. She left herfamily, consisting of a husband and six children at her home in Iowa, to whom the sad news of her death will bring the deepest sorrow and irreparable loss. The remains were brought to this city on the Overland stage on Saturday lsat, accompanied by her relatives, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Hayne an dher brother Mr. Thomas [Robert?] Hicks. She was buried in the Masonic [Pioneer] Cemetery near this city at 3 o'clock P.M., Saturday, the funeral being largely attended. Mrs. Bunch was a most estimable lady, of the kindest and most amiable disposition, a devoted wife and mother, and was beloved by a large circle of friends who will sincerely mourn her death. We tender to the afflicted relatives and friends our deepest sympathy. Idaho Tri-Weekly Statesman Boise, Ada, Idaho 30 Dec 1879 p. 3
