Bio

Funeral services were held from Presentation Catholic church; Luxemburg on the valley, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for Jacob W. Demuth who passed away at his home at 5:30 Saturday afternoon from heart failure. Conducting the services were Rev. John F. Ekeler; pastor, celebrant; Rev. J. J. Hoffman of Manley, deacon, and Rev.; Ferdinand Mock of Crete, sub-deacon. Requiem High Mass was sung by the church choir. The pallbearers were Frank Steiner, Mike Birkel, H. S. Smith, Pete N. Reisdorff, J. J. Meysenburg and Anton Shonka. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Bellwood. Jacob W. Demuth was born on September 25, 1870, in Luxemburg settlement on the valley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Demuth, and was 66 years four months and 26 days of age at time of death. He had spent his entire life farming in Butler County where he had many warm friends who regret his passing. Jacob W. Demuth and Miss Mary A. Frieden were united in marriage at St. Mary's church on the valley on November 19,1895. To this union five children were born, two sons, Mike Demuth of Fremont and' Walter Demuth of the valley, and three daughters, Mrs. Anna Hoffman and Mrs. Clara, Birkel of David City and Marie Demuth on the valley who with Mrs. Demuth survive. Mr. Demuth is also survived by one brother, N. M. Demuth, and six grandchildren. Mr. Demuth had recently recovered from an attack of flu and or was seemingly quite we1l, when he passed away with a sudden heart attack. He was a member of Presentation church and a devout Catholic.
