Son of Barney DeWitt and Margaret Hedge. Husband of Catherine Richey. Father of Eva, Maggie, Lula, Edith, Simon, Willie, Grace and Hattie DeWitt. ************************************************* Obituary: THE PARIS NEWS, TUESDAY, 29 APR 1924. C.W. DeWitt of Valiant, OK. died Sunday morning between four and five o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hiram T Hicks on Pine Bluff street. Making his home for several years with a son Wright DeWitt three miles north of Valiant, having become wore out and in feeble health, his daughter went to valiant last week and brought him to Paris wher he could receive better medical attention. He was 86 years old and was born in ohio but came to Texas many years ago and located in Lamar County east of Paris where he engaged in farming for several years before he went to Caviness. He is survived by three daughers, Mrs. Lewis Allen and Mrs. Mark Herron of Ontario CA. and Mrs. Hicks of Paris and by one son, Wright DeWitt with whom he was living in OK. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock in the residence of Mrs. Hicks. Rev. W.M. Wright officiating. Interment was at Providence Cemetery east of town beside his wife.
