Decatur: John Henry Collins, 88, went to be with our Lord Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Decatur. Graveside service is 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery with Don Spain officiating. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home. John was born April 12, 1922 to John and Nanny (Jackson) Collins in Kerns, Texas (spelling of Kerns?, I find a Karnes County or a Kerens, Texas). He married Lou Vena Shaw in 1955 (Apr 26, 1956 according to their stone) in Wichita Falls and was a member of Eagle Drive Baptist Church. Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Gloria Bryan and husband Kenny of Decatur: his grandson, Butch Bryan; his granddaughter, Cindy Bryan Morton and husband Eric; his great-granddaughter, Macy Anne Marie Morton; his sister, Melba Pucci of San Francisco, California; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
