Bio

Lawrence Bailey, 84, of Providence, La. passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at his residence. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday Oct. 30 at Providence Baptist Church, Rev. Arlen Smith officiated. Interment followed at Providence Cemetery in Providence under the care of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory his son, Howard "Jack" Bailey, and wife Rebecca, of Red Oak, Texas; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Bailey was a native of Vernon Parish and had lived in the Providence Community most of his life. He was a Veteran of World War II, having proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Lawrence worked as a Missionary, serving in Alaska and Mexico. He also had worked as a mechanic and carpenter.
