The Blue Hill Leader (Blue Hill, NE), Friday, June 6, 1941; pg. 1 PAULINE— The marriage vows of Miss Wilma Hesman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hesman of Pauline, and Ernest Pavelka, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pavelka, Sr., of Fairfield, were solemnized Tuesday morning, June 3, at nine o'clock. The service took place at St. Cecelia Catholic church (sic) in Hastings, with Rev. M. C. Grogan officiating, using the single ring ceremony. The bride was attended by Miss Agnes Pavelka, sister of the groom, and the matron of honor was Mrs. Rudolph Haba, sister of the bride. The groom's attendants were Alvin Pavelka of Fairfield and Rudolph Haba of Lawrence. The bride's dress was of white sheer, with train and she wore a fingertip veil and carried a shower bouquet of roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid wore aqua taffeta and the matron of honor pink sheer. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner and supper was served to 42 guests at the home of the bride's parents near Pauline. The dining room was decorated with streamers of white pink and aqua, with a large bell suspended above the table. A beautifully decorated wedding cake formed the centerpiece on the dining table. Guests in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pavelka, Mr. and Mrs. William Pavelka and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Pavelka, all of Fairfield; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sharlain and Mrs. Josephine Ourada of Kearney; Mr. and Mrs. Wm.. Pohlmeier oi Lawrence; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Synek of Spring Ranch; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hesman of Blue Hill; Lola Van Matre of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. George Hesman, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hesman, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hesman, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hesman and Ivan Hesman. The young couple will make their home on a farm one mile north of Spring Ranch. A wedding dance was given Tuesday evening in Deweese by the newlyweds. ========================= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, May 13, 1976; pg. 3 Funeral services were held for Ernest Pavelka, Monday morning, May 3, 1976 at 10:30 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Deweese. Father Edwin Stander offered the Mass of the Resurrection and officiated at the graveside services in St. Martin's Cemetery, west of Deweese. Commentator for the Mass was Clem Kucera. Ernest Pavelka, son of Joseph T. and Mary Ourado Pavelka, was born at Spring Ranch, Nebraska on January 17, 1918, and died at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, on April 30, 1976 at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 13 days. He grew to young manhood in the Spring Ranch community and attended Prairie Rose rural school. He was united in marriage to Wilma Hesman on June 3, 1941. They farmed in the Blue Hill community for several years before moving to a farm near Deweese where they lived until February when poor health caused him to retire from the farm and move to a home in Hastings. He was a life-time member of the Catholic Church, belonging to St. Martin's and Our Lady of Assumption parishes and was always active in church and community work. To his family he was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Bill Lyon of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Jolene Pavelka of Hastings; two grandsons, Scott and Mark Lyon; two granddaughters, Dawn and Shelly Pavelka; a sister, Mrs. Rose Pohlmeier of Lawrence; and 27 nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Joseph and Mary Pavelka. Surviving are his widow, Wilma, a son, Robert of Hastings, a daughter, Mrs. Diane Lyon of Lincoln, four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Rose Pohlmeier of Lawrence. (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper) Among the relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shovlain, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Menke of Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. George Ourada of Overton, Mrs. Carl Stromeyer of Lexington, Dr. and Mrs. Don Pavelka, Edwin Pavelka, Mrs. Emily Pavelka of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Koza of David City, Gene Pohlmeier of Fairbury, Lorraine Pohlmeier of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Mazour of Wood River. THANK YOU We wish to thank our family, friends, and neighbors for the many cards, flowers, visits, food and help we received during our husband's and father's illness and at the time of his death.
