Martha Joy Miller Graveside services for Martha Joy Miller, 63, of Athens were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Liberty Cemetery with the Rev. O.E. Davis officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Miller died Dec. 5, 2004, in Athens. She was born March 1, 1941, in Big Spring to Fred Miller and Martha Ada Johnston Miller. Mrs. Miller was not a famous person. She was not a lawyer or a doctor. She worked in receiving at Wal-Mart for the past 18 years. During those years, she and her work went largely unnoticed by frantic shoppers looking for goods to purchase or by the employees themselves. But to her family and friends, she was the epicenter of love and kindness. She provided the very foundation in which her family's soul was anchored. Many will not notice her passing as her family has. Some will know of her leaving and say a few nice things and then continue on with their lives. But her family and friends can say with the truest of hearts and minds that she has left a mark of love on each and every one who knew her. So do not shed tears of sorrow, but tears of happiness. Do not shed tears of her passing, but shed tears for the time she lived. Do not shed tears of her family's loss, but shed tears to what heaven has gained; for on this day heaven has gained a truly worthy angel. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Adaverne Miller; and brother, Freddie Miller. Survivors include her two daughters, Freddie Carlene Fladd of Athens and Martha Darlene Williams of Mountainsberg, Ark.; sister, Nancy Weatherford of Athens; grandchildren, Christopher Robinson, Robin McCardell, Ginger Eads, Crystal Robinson, Yvette West, Misty Dawn West and Shane West; great-grandchildren, Tyler Eads, Landyn Eads, Gabby Robinson and Izayah McCardell; and several nieces and nephews.
