Suggestion: Jane Cotie -------------------------------- Thank you so much for your hard work in creating these memorials. I have a suggestion concerning Leonidus Lee. His mother was not Almedia Swor Lee, but rather Sorinthia Tullis Lee. Her name appears on the 1870 census for Trinity County, Texas, along with husband, Needham Jefferson Lee, Leonidus Lee (a one-year-old son), and Needham's brother John Lee and John's wife Marie or Maria (I believe her maiden name was Hutson but I need to verify that). Two or three of the Hutson girls married Lee boys. Sorinthia Tullis appears on the 1850 census for Simpson County, MS, living in the home of William Thomas Hutson and Rebecca Hutson. I believe these would be her grandparents. They are 42 and 47 years old respectively, and Sorinthia was 2 years old at that time. William Thomas and Rebecca Hutson had a daughter, Melissa who married James Tullos (many different spellings of this name). Melissa died at the age of 22, so Sorinthia could easily have been Melissa's child, and Melissa might possibly have died in child birth. Anyway, for quite a long while I did not know that Needham Lee had a wife prior to Almedia, but I could see that Almedia would have been 15 years of age when Leonidus was born. I believe Ulyssis Clarence Lee, born 1877, would have been Needham's and Almedia's first child. Leonidus's mother shows to have been Babe Tuelous on his death certificate, (Babe obviously a nickname, and, as I said, many different spellings of the name Tullos). The Hutson's and Lee's traveled together from Mississippi to Trinity County, Texas, but I was not certain that Sorinthia had survived the trip until recently. I have not been able to locate her burial place. Lee's and Hutson's are at Moore and Bennett cemeteries in Trinity County, but as best I can tell, she is not among them. I will continue to search, and please keep my email address handy in case you might run across a lead. These things keep me up nights until I am able to solve the mystery. Needham Jefferson and Lenora Almedia Swor Lee are the parents of my grandfather, William Calvin Lee. They rest in Moore Cemetery in the community of Crecy which is between Apple Springs and Groveton, Trinity County, Texas. This is the ground where my dad ran and played and worked as a child. Now there is no one left to ask about these things. Again, thank you for your efforts.
