Alice Ethel Benedict, 86, of Pine Bluffs died March 30 at the Cheyenne Healthcare Center. She was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Wheatland. Mrs. Benedict was a member of the Pine Bluffs United Methodist Church. She was a major contributor to the founding board of the Texas Trail Museum in Pine Bluffs and was instrumental in preparing the grant from the UPRR for the development of the museum. Mrs. Benedict is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Paula Wilson of Aurora, Colo., and Beverly and Donald Fredrickson of Cheyenne; a daughter-in-law, Elba Quintero-Stevens of Phoenix; a brother, Walter Swan of Wheatland; a sister-in-law, Rowena Swan of Olympia, Wash.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Doug Wilson, and Matthew and Jenn Hill, all of Aurora, Brian Fredrickson, Shawn and Amy Fredrickson, and Mitchell and Tammy Brown, all of Cheyenne, Steven Stevens of New Orleans, and Teri and Mark Laponte of Fort Collins, Colo.; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands James Stevens and Paul Edward Benedict; parents, Oscar and Augusta Swan; a son, Lynn James Stevens; a son-in-law, Leland Wilson; a brother, Dean Swan; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Swan. © Wyoming Tribune Eagle April 1, 2006
