The Fairfield Auxiliary (Fairfield, NE), Thursday, August 13, 1925; pg. 1 SPRING RANCH NEWS NOTES Joe Bartachek (sic) and Mrs. Svoboda were united in marriage at Lawrence Monday. ======================= The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, January 15, 1948; pg. 4 LAWRENCE Mrs. Frances Vap and Joe Bartosek of Deweese were united in marriage Sunday morning, Jan. 11, at Deweese. Rev. Gregory Petrus performed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pohlmeier wre (sic) the attendants. =================== Joseph Bartosek, 93, of Deweese died in his home. Services were held at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Fehruary 19, 1988. Mr. Bartosek was buried at St. Martin's cemetery near Deweese. Mr. Bartosek was born July 8, 1894 in Moravia. He came to the United States at the age of 18 and settled in Deweese and Lawrence areas. He served in World War I in England and France. He owned and operated a shoe store and shoe repair service in Deweese for 55 years, retiring in 1985. He married Josephine Svoboda in 1925 and she died February 2, 1944. He later married Francis Vap who died in October of 1964. He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church and VFW No. 10045. Survivors are four stepdaughters, Elizabeth Kucera of Hastings, Mrs. Joe Petr of Pueblo, CO., Mrs. Alvin Pohlmeier of Pueblo, CO. and Mrs. Everett Rex of Pueblo, CO.; one stepson David Vap of Colorado Springs, CO. and six step grandchildren Deweese, Nebraska Centennial Book Update =================
