Bio
Glen is the son of Harve L. Helms and Nellie Beal. He is one of three known children (based on the 1930 census): Glenn, R.D. and Huel Glen C. Helms passed away at Welcome Home in Redding, CA., on April 21st, 2011, he was born to Harv and Nellie Helms on October 10th, 1918 in Gilmer, TX, he was one of four sons. Glen served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where he met and married Doris Samarin at Hamilton Field, CA on the 16th of July 1942. They resided in San Francisco, CA. Glen is survived by his brother Childers Helms of Gilmer, TX, also his sisters-in-law Carolyn and Doris along with many nieces, nephews and their children. He leaves behind his only child Carolyn Taylor and son-in-law Richard Taylor of Redding, CA. Glen had two granddaughters; Jeanine Hays of Anderson, CA and Jacqueline and her husband Eric Benson of Aberdeen, Scotland. He also had three great granddaughters, Karen, Sheena and Haley, one great grandson John, and one great, great grandson Kayden. His first wife Doris's family from Fresno, CA include brother-in-law George Samarin and wife Ann, sister-in-law Naomi Samarin as well as many nieces, nephews, and from the Bay Area, Joan Scholzen, Elaine Bill, Bill and Meredith Hystad and all of their children. He was also married to Evva Frazier, which included a memorable relationship with her granddaughter, Michele, her husband David Green and her two daughters Jessica and Janelle. Also included in Glen's life were son-in-law Richard's mother and sister Dorothy Gibbons and Wanda Taylor who he was very fond of and had many good memories. Glen loved and cherished his family and friends all of his life. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in San Francisco. [Redding Record Searchlight on April 26, 2011]
