Killed in WW II The Men and Women in World War II From Henderson County: Mills, Roy J. Pfc. Roy J. Mills, son of Mrs. Ola Mills. Entered the Army in August, 1944, trained at Camp Hood, Texas; served in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France. Killed in April, 1945, in Germany. Received Purple Heart and Silver Star. ATHENS SOLDIER REPORTED MISSING Athens, April 28, 1945 Mrs. Ola Linebarger of Athens has received a message from the War Department stating that her son, PFC Roy J. Mills, has been missing in action in Germany since April 8th. The soldier, who was with the 9th Army entered the service in September, 1944, and went overseas last February. He is a graduate of the Athens High School. Mrs. Linebarger has 3 other sons in service, one overseas and two stationed in the United States, Lt. (jg) C. G. Mills, stationed at the Naval Air Station at San Diego, Calif. and Cpl. Mills, stationed at the Smoky Hill Army Base Airbase, Saline, Kansas. Both are home on furlough.
