Bio
Ella Ann Augusta Clausen was born on April 22, 1904 at Hanover Township, Crawford County, the daughter of William and Caroline Ullrich Ackelbein. She died Dec. 26, 1981 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Denison at the age of 77. Ella was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She spent her early years on a family farm in Hanover Township. Ella received her formal education at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Hanover Township. On Jan. 7, 1923, Ella was united in marriage to Fred Clausen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Charter Oak community until they retired from the farm and moved into Charter Oak. Fred died in 1959. Ella continued to make Charter Oak her home until 1965 when she moved to Denison. For the past few years she has been a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison due to failing health. In addition to her parents and her husband, Ella was preceded in death by one great grandson, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include, three daughters, Luella, Mrs. Robert Braase of Schleswig, Norma Jean, Mrs. Loren Albertson of Des Moines and Phyllis, Mrs. Charles Ernest of Morgan City, Louisi. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery near Charter Oak. The Rev. L. C. Gebhardt officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Alvern Klinker, Gordon Owens, Edgar Koch, Jr., Norman Klinker, Donald Koch, and Harvey Westphalen. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Charter Oak.
