Bio

Mr. Edwin G. Patak, 75, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas. He was born Aug. 3, 1928 in Ennis, the son of Joe A. and Mary Nekuza Patak. He was reared in Ennis where he attended St. John School. On Sept. 11, 1954 he was married to Lillie Ann Salik of Ennis. After their marriage they lived in Ennis. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Leggett & Platt for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and the KJT. He is survived by his wife, Lillie, of Ennis; 3 daughters and their husbands, Susan and Keith Brown of Ennis, Danita and Frank Copeland of Flower Mound, Monica and Ted Zapletal of Dallas; 4 grandchildren, Jerod and Justin Brown, Ashtyn and Zak Zapletal; a brother, Joe S. Patak; and a sister, Evelyn M. Patak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Patak, a brother, Wesley Patak and a son, Jeremy Patak. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell as celebrant and Deacon Charlie Stump assisting. Entombment will be in St. Josephs Mausoleum under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Patak, Danny Patak, Johnny Ray Whiteley, Danny Salik, Glen Wilson and Ricky Barto. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Jerod and Justin Brown, Ashtyn and Zak Zapletal.
