Birth Family James John Wirka was the son of Anton and his first wife, Marie. Both Anton and Marie immigrated from what is now Czechoslovakia*. In addition to James, Anton and Marie had two daughters; Emma (Spatz) and Anna (Fisher). Marie passed away in 1890 at the age of 30 years. Anton married next to Anna, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia at 13 years of age. Birth Family Residences: 1900 ~ Bohemia & Chester Precinct Prague village, Saunders, Nebraska 1910 ~ Chester, Saunders, Nebraska Father, Anton Wirka, b ca 1859 in Bohemia. Immigration year, 1877. Mother, Marie Wirka, b ca 1860 Stepmother, Anna Wirka, b ca 1875 in Czechoslovakia / Austria. Maiden name is said to be Smaus, but there is also an Anna Eret who married an Anton Wirka on 19 Dec 1903 at Noble county, Oklahoma whereby the couple appears to be our Anton and Anna. In the last instance, Anna Eret was said to be born around 1877, and Anton around 1860. Both were born in Bohemia, and Anton was a resident of Nebraska with Anna a resident of Noble county. From the best I can see, Anna Eret is entered in into the record as a Mrs. Anton and Anna married between 1900 and 1910 Sister, Anna Wirka, b ca 1880-18 in Nebraska Self, James Wirka, b ca 1882-83 in Nebraska Sister, Emma Wirka, b ca 1885-86 in Nebraska. They had five children: Anton J., Karl, LeRoy, Mrs. Gawaine (Donna) Dvorak, and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Prochaska. *NOTE: What was once Czechoslovakia is now two separate nations; Czech Republic and Slovakia. I am unsure exactly what region of the former nation of Czechoslovakia Anton hailed from. Marriage and Family James and Bella: 1920 ~ Chester, Saunders, Nebraska 1930 ~ Chester, Saunders, Nebraska James and Blanch "Bella" Belik were married on Oct. 1, 1912. On September 12, 1918, James registered for the draft and named Bella as his next of kin. He was described as being tall and of medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. James and Bella had one son, James E. Wirka. Their family resided in Prague, Sanders, Nebraska, but eventually moved from Prague to a farm three miles east of Cedar Bluffs. James and Blanch lived there with their son, James E., until they retired and bought a house in Cedar Bluffs in 1952. Son, James E. and Lydia A. Zenk were married on June 29th, 1952. The couple had three sons. In 1891, Anton Wirka purchased a 120 acre farm in North Cedar Township, Saunders county, Nebraska. Upon Anton's death, James J. inherited the farm and passed it to his son, James E, who farmed this land with his own sons, Vern, Glen, and David. **********************************************
