Sarah's obituary can be found in the Arnold Sentinel 10/26/1927 In 1885 the Nebraska State census shows them living in Delight Township, Custer County, Nebraska, and listed as Godfrey Nansel, 28, farmer, born Illinois; Sarah, 27, wife, housekeeper, Iowa; Arthur, 3 son, Iowa; Jessie, 8 months, son, Nebraska; and Michael, 18, brother, laborer. They were living next to Sarah’s brothers Ambrose and Lewis. In 1900 they were still in Custer and listed as Godfrey Hansel [sic], 43, married 20 years, Illinois, farmer; Sarah E., 42, 11 children and 10 living, Iowa; Arthur, 18, son, married, farm laborer; Anna, 16, daughter, at school, Iowa; Jesse F., 15, Nebraska; Nora J., 12, Nebraska; Lewis O., Iowa; Hubert, 8, Nebraska; Joseph, 6, Nebraska; Harry R. [sic], 4, Nebraska; Cecil M., 2, Nebraska; Lloyd, 8 months, Nebraska and three employees. In 1910 they were in Delight, Custer County, Nebraska and listed as Godfrey Nansel, 53, head, first marriage, 29 years, stockman, farm; Sarah E., 51, 12 children and 11 living; Lewis O., 20, single, laborer, farm; Joseph, 16, laborer, farm; Ray H., 14, son; Cecil M., 12, daughter; Lloyd K., 10; and Charles L., 8. In 1920 they were living in Arnold, Custer County and listed as Godfrey Nausel [sic], 62, retired farmer; Sarah E., 61; Loyd, 20, none; and two lodgers. In 1930 Godfrey was living in Arnold, Custer County with his son Charles and listed as Godfrey Nansel, 72, father, widowed, no occupation.
