Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Francis Orien Wood Allen October 13, 1933 - May 21, 2006 SERVICES: 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 24, 2006 in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Joe Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, and David Burger, officiating. BURIAL: Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Allen was born on Oct. 13, 1933 in Shamrock. She came to Pampa in 1990 from Wheeler, and she was a former resident of Skellytown for 20 years. She married Darwin Allen on Nov. 19, 1947 in Wheeler. She owned and operated Fran's Beauty Shop in Skellytown for about 20 years. She later worked as a beautician in Wheeler and as an x-ray technician at Wheeler Hospital. She was a member of the Skellytown Church of Christ. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed handcrafts. She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by a son, Darwin Hays Allen, Jr., on June 2, 1998. SURVIVORS: Husband: Darwin Allen of the home; 2 daughters: Linda Westbrook and husband Eddie of Winters and Jeanne Moore and husband Hubert of Shamrock; 1 brother: Kenneth Wood and wife Barbara of Merkel; 2 sisters: Marjie Lister and husband J. C. of Grants, NM and Jane Exum of Grand Junction, CO; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. MEMORIALS: Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106 or BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065. SPECIAL NOTICE: Mrs. Allen will lie in state at her residence at 2409 Comanche until 8:00 AM Wednesday.
